The father of Linux, Linus Torvalds has been selected as one of two awarded the Millennium Technology (Milennium Technology Prize) of the year.
Torvalds has been recognized by the Academy of Finland for technology innovation and his dedication to open source operating system.
Founded in 2004, once every 2 years, prizes will be given to honor individuals for innovations in technology help to improve dramatically the quality of human life today and in future.
During official choice Torvalds was awarded the Academy has shown that, Linux has become a basic platform for many high-tech devices such as Android smartphones today, the machine tablet ... and has made the lives of millions around the world now becomes a better place.
Along with Dr. Shinya Yamanaka of Japan, who is recognized for research achievements in plant cells, Torvalds will receive this award in the celebrations, on 13/6 in Helsinki, Finland.
